GP Data Updates in 2 different Company Entities

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

We currently utilize GP2013. We currently added a new entity within our organization. Is there a way to simultaneously upload the inventory to both entities without having to manually upload 2 times?

    UAG -

Richard is right on the money, you could use Integration Manager, which is available as Integration Manager for Conversions to all new customers for the first year they own Dynamics GP. SSIS to do the inserts is documented in detail in Knowledge Base article (872709) at the following Link:

    support.microsoft.com/.../how-to-copy-setup-tables-from-one-company-to-another-in-microsoft-dynamics-gp

Additionally, Professional Services Tools Library is available to Dynamics GP customers for free, and the Miscellaneous Tools > Copy Company feature will copy master records from a source database to the selected destination company. A word of caution here, if you run this utility, it initializes (drops) the existing table, so you cannot use it to add item records to an existing set of item numbers.

If you have integration manager you could set up a scheduled integration to insert any new items. Otherwise you could use SSIS and set up a package to do the inserts. This would involve detailed knowledge of the tables. I would discuss this with your GP partner to make sure it is done correctly.

I'm sure its possible but why?

The easiest path I can think of is restoring a backup of one company to the other and then updating the specifics as needed.
