Hi All,

I know we can enable Custom entities for Activity Feed but can we do something to enable Posts for the Custom entities?

For example I want to see in the Social Dashboard newly created, Won/Lost Opportunities but also I want to see this for my custom entity "Project".. .can this be achieved?

Activity feeds and posts are basically the same thing, so yes you can. Walls of feeds on dashboards will show posts for all records you are following or that mention you (eg if you close a Case, the posts says it was closed by you).

You can use workflows to automatically follow records, for example when a Project is created, you could add a follow on it for the Project Manager, and/or for the parent customer account manager, whatever makes sense for your scenario.

Hi, thanks for your response :-)

Activity Feed Config - allows you to enable entities (system & custom) for the feed, which is within the form's Posts&Notes&Activites i.e. Social Panel section and the Post Config Rules are to do with the actual posts which are created and displayed within the various Activity Feed / Social Pane areas / walls. I have enabled the Activity feed for my custom entity ok, what I am trying to achieve is that on the main wall there are auto posts created for my custom entity. e.g. "A new Project has been created" or "A Project has been completed" . There is only an option to activate/deactivate rules for selected system entities (e.g. Case, Opportunity..) but not to create ones, wondered if someone heard of that can be achieved somehow anyway..

Ah, OK, I missed that subtletly of the question.

As far as I know you can't do that, but you can very successfully use workflows to do exactly the same job, eg when a Project is created make a post that reads 'Adriana created a new Project Name of project for Name of customer' where you can refer to the records with a link so that they are "mentioned" and the post will appear on the wall of both the project and the account (or project contact, or whatever), and users can click through the links to get to those records directly.

    Hey Adam!

    Yes, workflow works! :-)

However when the Post record is created it doesn't link it to the name of the Account for some reason.. (doesn't display it on it's wall)

Both User (Adriana) and Name of Customer (Account) don't come up as "links" within the post, however a post is created on the User's wall but not on the Account's wall.. not sure what I am doing wrong here :-(
