OK to deactivate Sdk Message Processing Step so I can update a custom field?

Posted on by 602

We have a custom option set field called "Funnel" that we currently use to track the stages of an Opportunity.  I've been tasked with writing a workflow that includes a step to change the value of this field.  When I try to set the value in my workflow, it is not available to update.  It acts like a read-only field or a locked field in my workflow.

It is not Read Only or Locked on the form.  I deactivated all business rules and workflows to see if I could update it within my workflow, but it was still not available.  The only other dependency is Sdk Message Processing Step, so I'm thinking that must be part of what is locking the field.

I know nothing about Sdk Message Processing Steps.  Am I safe to deactivate that, make the change needed in my workflow, and then reactivate it again?

Thank you,

Is it possible to extract code directly from Sdk Message Processing Step in the CRM Solution

I've got it!  I removed the field from the form.  Saved & published.  Then I was able to successfully update the field within the workflow.  I re-added the field to the form and it seems to work great.

I truly appreciate everyone's suggestions and help!

Normally if the field is not locked in the form, you can populate the field value in the Workflow. Not sure what's wrong out there.

Right. It is a simple option set.

Hm.. it is not a calculated field, is it?

Yup - Account shows up in my workflow so I'm sure I'm on the right form.

BTW, I have tried multiple controls for the same attribute just now.. it seems "readonly" affects one particular control.. so it would not matter if you had that field in different places and if it were readonly in some of them. Probably don't need to dig more in that direction at least

If you are still with us:)) Could you add "Account" field just before "Funnel" to that form, publish, then go to the workflow and confirm it's the right form? (it will be the right one if you see account field there)

It is in the Process Tab, Pricing section.  Sheesh - I cut it off on the last screenshot I posted!!

Thanks so much for your help!

Can this field be found on the form somewhere? Is it in the "Partner" section?
