Set default Currency on custom entity

We have a custom entity called "Placements". The Currency is not being populated when new records are created. How do I set it to US Dollar by default and would I need to do this via workflow?

Add the currency field to the form.

I've added it to the form. But how do I make it default to US Dollar on create?

You can create a Business rule.

Set default Value.
