Restrict Users from Viewing other User Records

Hi!

I am trying to restrict users from viewing other user records (systemuser entity). In the security roles for the entity, I only have the option to set Read privileges to None, Business Unit, Parent: Child Business Unit, or Organization. If I set it to None, the user will not be able to access anything when logging into the CRM. Any other privileges will allow them to view other user records. Any assistance in figuring out a solution is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

So, for example, you would only want the specific owner of an account to view only accounts where he/she is the owner?

    Hi,

The only option you have is to prevent the user from seeing users outside of their own business unit by setting it to Business Unit (half full).

    Hope this helps,

Not the records owned by the user but the User record itself, which I believe is systemuser entity. I would like to restrict the users to only be able to view their own User record. Hopefully this clarifies my request. Thanks for the response.

Users will act exactly the same as other records based on the business unit that they belong do, so you'll need to separate out the users in to separate business units if you want to restrict access to them. There is no way of restricting access to only the user's own record unless you have each user in their own business unit!

So, you want a user to be able to go into Administration > Users, see and open up their individual user record and not anyone else, correct?

Is it OK if they see a user list?  Is it certain information in the user entity you don't want them to see or everything?  Just trying to get more background on the business/admin logic.

Here is what I would do in this situation if I understand you correctly.

    1. Make all fields on the SystemUser entity NOT visible by default

    2. Create a javascript on load that will verify if the current user is the user associated with that SystemUser entity.  If so, go through each control (Xrm.Page.ui.controls) and make them visible.  You want to do it this way because if you make them visible by default and invisible based on user, if it lags some users might see some fields.

    3. Modify the SystemUser views so that no columns are displayed except username.  The SYstemUser view by default will show information that you would want hidden.

Thanks for the help and responses. I will look further into your suggestions to get this implemented. Thanks again!
