Item Tracking Code

Hi Mates,
I’m trying to change the item tracking codes for all my items. For some items, I encountered errors indicating that item tracking lines existed on open documents. After removing these lines, I was able to switch the item tracking code. However, with one particular item, I received the error shown below. When I checked, the document number it references, 'A00267,' was already posted and is no longer open. This seems to be a glitch. Does anyone have a solution for this error?

    Hello,
     
    My experience is that you cannot change the Item Tracking Code for items that have any item ledger entry.
    You're error is linked with open documents, but after you delete that Item from document, then you will have error below.
     
    If you do not have any modifications on item tracking, then you will not be able to change tracking code however.
    Solution is to negative adjust remaining quantities of that item, block item, and then positive adjust on new Item card that you will create with correct item tracking code.

    If your item already has posted entries you won't be able to change the item tracking code in the item card. However, it can be done using configuration packages with the validation on the item tracking code field removed. I briefly talk about it here. But I'd only do this if all entries against the item are closed...
