Bulk product import

Is there a  way to do a bulk product import from an Excel spreadsheet?

    Yes, with some qualification needed. It is possible. Microsoft has a utility for importing databases called QSImports, it is the old Quicksell import utility. You must have access to Customersource or Partnersource to download it from the MS website. It worked well in Version 1.2 and 1.3, but some of the schemas changed in Version 2.0. Having said that, I successfully imported a 50,000 item database recently without issues into Version 2.0. It just takes some testing prior to actually doing a live import and a backup prior to doing so. The utility was designed, I assume, to bring in a csv file from other POS programs as a data conversion, but can also be used to import new catalog items. I would recommend not trying to import Parent Child items, that is very dicey. Retail Realm also has a add-on import program, but I have done just as well with the free utility. Kinnard L.     Is this QSImport still available?Was on customersource and I don't find it.

    That is just for Partners I believe, so if so you will not be able to get to it even if your CustomerSource membership is current (BRAP/BRAP). You may be able to get Microsoft to do one import for you with an Incident if that is all you need (never sen that done, so not sure).

    But what we usually do for our customers is a One-Time import, or we sell them a more advanced Import tool that can import to pretty much any field in RMS, and even import POs and such, if they need it on an ongoing basis.

    Does anybody have an import utility for csv files to import product into my Database, I would really like to get my shop up and running, I purchased the system from a Bankruptcy sales of a hobby shop, and I am a hobby shop, I just need to import my data from a Excel file, or a csv, comma delimited file.

    Thanks much for the reply, I really appreciate it, and in a few months I will have written a free import utility for a new store, User transfer of there data, for free!

    I used to program a lot, and I even wrote some parts of Virtue Mart, NCR stuff, Learn Key, Store Win a complete grocery store front end and back end. Once my store is up and running I will do some programming..
