Does Commerce Payment Tokens feature has any dependency on Archive Credit Card Transaction data?

 Hi

I have come across a scenario where I don't want to archive my credit card transaction data job but would like to compress the data size on tables. Keen to know does it reduce the data size significantly.

Microsoft offers a feature named Commerce Payment Tokens which compresses stored payment property tokens according to Archive credit card transaction data - Commerce | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn This documentation mentions that Once the Compress payment tokens feature is enabled, the Use compression parameter in the Archive credit card transaction data parameters section can be set to Yes

Please suggest if we enable the feature alone, does it compress  stored payment property tokens? Or  we need to toggle Use compression parameter to Yes in Archive credit card transaction data and run the job by keeping the parameters Minimum transaction age in days to Zero and Delete data without archiving as No?

Any suggestions are welcome.
I have the same question (0)

    Hi,
Cause I do not have a standard 10.0.31 version of the commerce environment, so judging from the document description, I think it is not necessary, because the document mentioned that the commerce versions required for these two functions are different, the Use compression parameter in the Archive credit card The transaction data parameters section is available in version 10.0.31 and higher.  And the Commerce Payment Tokens feature is the ability to store payment attribute tokens compressed, which helps reduce the size of the data store. Archiving credit card transaction data is another feature that involves storing and compressing data for credit card transactions. If you want to significantly reduce the data size on your table, you can enable both features at the same time.

    Hi Hana

    Thank you for prompt response.

Let say, I do not want to run Archive credit card transaction data job. Will enabling Compress Payment Tokens feature alone compress the data.

    Hi,
If you choose not to run the Archive Credit Card Transaction Data job, you may still benefit from a reduction in storage space due to payment token compression enabled by the Compress Payment Tokens feature. However, to achieve the most significant data storage size reduction, it is recommended to use both features in combination as they complement each other in optimizing data storage efficiency.

    Hana

Hello, I donot see the parameter 'Use compression ' in the Archive credit card transaction data. PFB snapshot for reference.

I've came across this issue previously where we haven't cleared this particular data for almost 3+ years since golive and it almost consumed 400+GB in the DB tables. Hence I would suggest you to better setup a batchjob to delete the data instead of archiving.

The only advantage of mainitaining this payment token data is it will be useful in the scenarios where the customer has brought a product from one channel and returns a product in another channel and expects the amount to refunded to the original payment method and most of the retail stores has a store return policy of 30 days hence in this case the suggested recurrence to delete the data which are older that 45 days.

Please note that the above statement is an example and the return policies may vary based on the companies policies.
