Approver posting journals in Business Central

Ideally we would like to set up workflows so that the approver posts journals after reveiwing the journal support.

We are coming up against a couple of practical issues:

1. Currently each user has a journal batch, so when the batch goes for approval they cannot post any other journals until these are cleared

2. While the journals are being approved other posters are taking the journal numbers that were initially allocated to the journal, and so when the posting happens the back-up is no longer referring to the correct number for the posted journal.

Our intial thought was to set up a large number of batches to handle this and give each user their own number series, but then we will have multiple numbers series running in parallel and lots of batches to check through to make sure all journals are posted.

Has anyone come across any practical solutions to these issues? Thanks in advance.

How often are journals rejected? I have a client that opted not to use journal approvals in place of doing it retrospectively and reversing journals instead. They also have a small development to add approval type comments on the G/L entries page.

    Hello,

Adding to Josh's reply... I have encountered this with another customer and I made sure each User who had a Journal Batch had their own No. Series. This resolved any Document No. problems. As for continuing to work, if this is truly a bottleneck and the user cannot wait, I would create a 2nd batch with another number series.

It is an easy fix you can do to eliminate the issues.

    Thanks,

    Steve
