Security Roles in GP2013

Assigning users to AP clerk role in GP with Defualt for Alternate Forms and Reports.

Logging in as the user, I am able to click and view Payroll check inquiry information.

This is the out of the box AP role, and I can recreate the issue in Fabrikam on another system.

Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas on how I can get around it?

change the tasks that the default a/p role can have to no longer include payroll tasks.

I am not quite sure that the "AP Clerk" security role includes the Payroll Transaction Inquiry and Payroll Check Inquiry windows. Both of these Tasks are included under the out of the box "Payroll Clerk" security role.

Check the associated (Inquiry) security tasks for both security roles (AP Clerk and Payroll Clerk) shown below;

You're right!

The AP CLERK has access to that window via te following tasks:

INQ_FIN_001*

INQ_FIN_004*

INQ_FIN_005*

You need to edit the task and remove the window.

I recommend you dump all of those roles and tasks to an Excel spreadsheet and comb through them. There are several problems lurking around the default roles.

I must stand corrected in here. I have just tested that and found that the "Payroll Check Inquiry window" is granted under AP Clerk role. I don't understand the business logic behind this, you could separate the AP Clear Role into AP Payroll Accountant role and AP Accountant role by thoroughly considering the security tasks.

As for the security tasks associated with each security role, this is a good script by Victoria Yudin
