Does the Note in the Notification setup work.

How does the note notification method work in BC as I dont get any Note notifications show up under the Notifications

I do get emails. Documentation on the method seems very limited too.

It seems to have been ditched without explicitly stating it. For example, when it was NAV there was a part in the role centre for the user. Given that isn’t much different than the tile for “Approvals” that exists on every role centre it has left “notifications” as pointless.

For other types of notification methods it is worth looking at Power Automate. You could have approvals issued by Teams for instance: www.fajdiga.info/.../

Hi Grant,

I came across this question myself a few times in the past and now I finally managed to find the answer to it.

Yes, the functionality works. If you set up the Notification Type as "Note", then the approval notification will be added as a note to the "Notes" section on the relevant document. I am not really sure about how useful this function is, but it is nice to finally figure out what it does! I hope it helps.

P.s., I would have expected the note to show up in the "Notifications" area with the bell icon at the top bar next to search.... moreover the note does not really show up instantly even when the schedule is set as such, it takes a couple of minutes.

Following your reply in the thread I have come to know that your screenshot contains the "Notes" details exactly the same which I am looking for.

however, I am not able to achieve it through the setup.

I would like to use Notification Method as /Notes/ in Workflow Notification Setup.

I really don't know how this works.

My
requirement - When the User creates a document and send the document
for approval the Approver should get notified in Business Central's My
Notification section (or some other place, if there is any)

Email Notifications are perfectly working fine for me. However, I want to use this / Note/ notification method.

Setups I have done.

1) Workflow Notification Setup for New Record and Approval for Sender (User) & Receiver (Approver) (Screenshot given above)

2) Workflow Setup - Have turned on Notify Sender boolean for each condition

The approver is getting Approval Request, but not getting notified.

Is there anything I am missing out in the setup to send Notes ?

I didn't found much more details for this feature over the internet.

Please assist.

on this page, it seems BC only allow user to choose only one option to get approval notification. It throws an error if trying to create both.

Maybe you could use the note as notification here. And try to add a response from the workflow, on the trigger of approval, you could specify a user so BC sends you an email.

Yes, business central does not allow to select same Notification Type with different Notification Method, however, I would only like to use Note as my Notification Method.

Following your screenshot I have made changes in the Workflow Setup for Workflow Response. Although by doing it system has created Notification Entries but not a Notification in the App Bar for the Approver.

May I know what is the use of this notification pane, and when it is to be used.

Setting up the Notification Method as Note simply means that the system will add an entry in the Notes factbox. If you check, you should see several entries here in your documents/journals.

It does not create notifications in the Notifications icon in the App Bar
