Custom Report Layouts

Hello,

I need to change a already modified Sales Invoice 1306 word document in business central.

The total including VAT field has been entered in the net value box in error.

Is it possible to correct this error when using a word document? and if so what field do i need and how would i do this?

I read online that i needed to use AL code to do this, I was hoping it would be possible with drag and drop using XML in word.

Thanks

As far as I know, Word documents can only display calculated content and cannot do totals. If the code does not contain the result you mentioned, it cannot be achieved using only Word documents.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

You must add AL code to calculate the correct values for the Word layout.

You can check in Excel Data file before adding into Word layout.

Word layouts don’t have the built-in ability to sum/subtract operations as RDLC does.

    Thanks,

You can change your layout without AL code if there is no major calculation or field driven change . Else that needs to be written in trigger in Report object

You can change your layout if there is no major computation and you are aware field is already avialable in report column list

Please find the below links for more clarity

Yes, you can fix the issue by exporting the Sales Invoice Word layout (Report 1306) from Business Central, then opening it in Microsoft Word to adjust the fields using the XML Mapping pane. However, if the "total including VAT" amount is in the wrong place (net value box), this likely means the report’s data mapping needs correction in the underlying AL code, not just the Word layout. Word editing can change the layout, but fixing data errors requires an AL code adjustment to correctly assign fields before exporting to Word.
So, simple layout changes can be done by drag-and-drop in Word, but to fully correct the value placement, you need AL code changes combined with Word layout updates.

If You just need to change the place where which amount is shown, You can open Custom Report Layouts, select the 1306 layout that You are using, and press Export layout.
Then open it with Word, and either just drag the wrong data item where needed, or delete what You have in the wrong place and through developers tab, XML mapping pane, select the needed one.
Then save it and import it back in BC in the Custom Report Layouts.

This is a classic Word layout customization issue in Business Central.

The good news is that you don’t need AL code for this if you’re just fixing a field reference. You can correct it directly in Word using the Custom Layout XML Mapping.
