Vendor Maintenance Last update fields

At my company we are cleansing our master vendor file.  While doing so, I noticed that the "Last Updated Date/Time" and "Last Update User" fields are pretty useless since they both get updated at every month end close.  All of our vendors (18,000+) show that they were last updated by our accounting manager who closed the period every month.  By doing so we can not effectively see who last made a material change to the vendors details.   What is triggering that field to be updated at close, how can we get the vendor last update date and user to stay true to when a vendor maintenance field is actually changed?

    The PerNbr field on the vendor table is updated at closing. There isn't much you can do about it. If you want to capture the last date of change, you'll have to audit it before the close process is completed each period.

    If you want to find the last time a vendor was used, maybe APHist or APDoc would be useful with the right query.
