Integration Manager data from SQL to Payables

A simple question that if possible may lead onto a more complex one!!

Is it possible to use integration manager to take data from a separate SQL database (housed on a separate SQL Server) and integrate into Accounts Payables.

If so can some one point me in the correct direction.

Many thanks

    Hi Ian,

Uploading data from one SQL Server to GP SQL server is possible but it is always good to use Integration Manager or any other integration tool which support by Great Plains.

The best way is you need to extract data from seperate SQL Server DB and save/export into text, csv or excel file then upload using IM.

Please remember you need to export all the column which is required for Accounts Payables transactions.

    Hope this is clear.

    Regards,

    Santosh

Thanks but I really wanted to set it up with Integration Manager so it can e supported by Finance systems

E connect does require much more of a technical background!

This is how I am doing it at the moment but I was looking to streamline the process a bit!

Many thanks you have ansered the basic question. Still need a separate file.

If this other server is on your network and you can create  a DSN to access the data, then IM will work just fine. However, if there is no connection then a text file of some type is the best choice.

fantastic found it got the basics working now. One last question how can you schedule these integrations to run? Is there a scheduling agent that I canuse or can I use VB to open and close application?

Well you will need to have GP open and the workstation logged into the company into which you want to integrate. You can then set up a Windows scheduled task to run the IMRUN.EXE program with the appropriate parameters.

Here are a couple of tech notes:

    Have fun!!!
