How to translate a text constant in Nav

Posted on by 2

Hello Team,

I need your quick help to show me how I could do translation for a text constant; step by step is appreciated.

Now, I can create a translation by myself in C/AL code; but it works well for variable because I can edit/assign new value to it. However, for a text constant, I cannot assign a new value to it.

Can you suggest how I can change the value for a text constant  or step by step I can translate a text constant for a language to another language?

Check how Item translations or Unit of Measure translations are created. You can do it the same way - that there is a separate table where You provide primary key of Code and Language code and the translation in this language, then wherever You fill in the name field for this Code, you check the language code and take the correct text.

Otherwise if it is a caption for a field, You can provide the translation in C/Al code directly for the field, and on reports just provide the language code, so that the caption of the field is printed out in correct language.
