Maximum number of letters

Dear all

I've seen that for CRM Interaction, or Names or description there is a maximum number of letters. For example, when I registered a project name, the length of the name always exceeds the maximum number of letters of business central. My partner said to me to divided the description in Name and Name2.

    Hi Patrick,

Can you please clarify your exact question?

Your current partner said to divide the description in Name and Name 2. If I understand correctly this isn't the answer you hoped for.

What is your exact requirement about field lengths?

    Regards,

    Ben

    Hello

    Thanks for your reply.

why is there a limit of characters in certain boxes? Is it possible that, for example, the role of contact, the descriptions of the orders and oterh boxe I cannot increase the number of possible characters? I have to dividided the description in two boxes?

Do you have the same problem?

    Hi Patrick,

unfortunately this are base fields and they cannot be extended in length.

In a database there is always a length associated with fields.

In Business Central the lengths of the base fields are not extendible, as they possibly flow through other tables when performing certain actions.

A possible solution is to create custom fields and add these in the lists and cards where you need them.
