Hi!
In april we planned the roll-out of the July Update (version 9.0) for Dynamics 365. Many of you might know dialogs are deprecated by Microsoft. Currently I am researching the best practices for replacing these features but the only ones I can find is using task flows and process flows. I hope to find people who also encountered this problem and found a proper solution because I have my doubts by replacing dialogs with task flows. Can anybody advise/help me?
With kind regards,
Adriaan van Vliet

I found this article promising:

We haven't tried it yet, but it uses PowerApps and Flows to give you the ability to re-create complex dialogs.
Here is some useful information from Microsoft about replacing dialogs
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/flow/replace-dialogs
You can use a Bootbox style dialog from inside a web resource
Hi Aric,
First of all thank you for your comment. We have about 10 dialogs and some are really complex. I know we have some time before they are completely removed but because of the complexity I am already searching for a solution to replace them. I have looked at TKDialogs but I don't want to replace it with a equivalent mechanism.
Currently I am mapping all of the different processes regarding the dialogs. When the mapping is complete it is the most likely option to build new workflows or business proces flows. This is a lot of work but I guess that it needs to be done since there is no other alternative.
For out of the box replacement option - I would look into custom entity/activity + BPF + Worflow/Custom Workflow/Flow. There are so much features in v9 that collectively could setup as a creative alternative to Dialogs.
Hey,
Just to add to this, I used TKDialogs back in CRM 2011 before Dialogs even existed in CRM, and they were fairly good. Provided a lot of configuration options and weren't too hard to get started with.
Also, just want to confirm that Dialog functionality still exists in CRM v9 - you can go through them as previously, create new dialogs and edit existing ones.
Good luck!
Hi Vlieticus,
Have not used dialogs for a while, but just want to clear one thing. Deprecated does not mean removed. It only means that it will be removed in one of the major future releases, possibly the next version of Dynamics 365, but also can be later.
Not sure how many dialogs you have, and what Microsoft plans, but I have seen a product called TKDialogs:
www.teamknowledge.co.uk that might be a fit for your organization. Never used it and don't know much about it.
Hope this helps.
