Generate license plate automatically when receiving stock in warehouse with location aging FIFO

Hi,

I have a requirement. I am using Location directive inventory picking aging feature where I am using FIFO strategy in my location directive. I want to achieve the following two via configuration. How can I do that?

  1. When I receive stock through warehouse app in my warehouse against a PO, the system should generate license plate automatically. As a user, it should not ask for manual input.
  2. When I pick stock for outbound against a sales order work through warehouse app, the system should automatically pick the license plate (based on FIFO strategy). As a user, it should not ask for manual input.

Any idea how I can achieve that?

Thanks

Kumar

    Hi Kumar,

    1. Set your mobile device menu item for Purchase order item receiving (and Put away) to generate license plate and print label (two different radio buttons).

    2. I'll leave this to others to weigh in as I've yet to use this new feature.

    Regards,

    Ben

    Hello Kumar,

    1) You achieve the automatic generation of License Plate, you need to configure your  Mobile Device Menu Item for Purchase Order Receipt as follows:

    2) For the FIFO strategy, you configure that on the Location Directive Actions, like below. If your Location Directive has more than one Line, you will need to configure their Actions to first use Location Aging FIFO strategy

    For Strategy Location Aging FIFO or LIFO to be available, a Feature needs to be activated in Feature Management (in my 10.0.22 environment it still requires activation).Here is the feature that needs to be activated and how it works: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/supply-chain/warehousing/location-directive-inventory-picking-aging.  Notice that after the feature is activated, you also need to turn on Location Status on the Location Profile.

    Hope these are the answers you were looking for.

    Danny

    Thanks Danny and Ben,

    On my second question "When I pick stock for outbound against a sales order work through warehouse app, the system should automatically pick the license plate (based on FIFO strategy). As a user, it should not ask for manual input."  what I meant is, when I do SO picking from mobile device, it should automatically identify the license plate based on aging of license plates. It should not ask user to manually input. Screenshot below.

    There is already a license plate that exist in the system with aging date.

    Hello Kumar,

    The automatic selection of LP is not possible without a reservation of the LP (there is LP reservation feature which allows reserving a specific LP on an order, but there is a process required).

    Reservation is a three steps process and is based on the Reservation Hierarchy:

    - Inventory Dimensions above "Location" are reserved on the order (usually Site, Warehouse, Status, {batch or serial});

    - When work is created, using the work template and location directives, reservation will include the "Location"  inventory dimension;

    -Finally, when pick work line is executed by the warehouse worker, the remaining Inventory Dimension will be reserved (Usually License Plate, Batch or serial)

    So without development, the system will not inform the warehouse worker which LP to pick. However, there is a feature that would allow the worker to consult the Location (Using the Location Inquiry menu item) from which to select which LP to use.  : Configure detours for steps in mobile device menu items - Supply Chain Management | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Docs.

    Regards,

    Danny
