MRP Planning Worksheet - Max Quantity of production order

Posted on by 20

Dear experts

I have a requirement in MS Dynamics BC 365 that each production order has maximum quantity e.g. 5

If there is sales order demand 12 quantity, need to split to 3 production orders with Qty 5, 5, 2

I would ask if there is any way to generate the these 3 production orders automatically by mrp planning worksheet.

I have setup order modifier max order qty in item master but not work. only 1 production order with 12 quantity generated in planning worksheet.

Appreciate if any expert can give hints if this is possible in MS Dynamics BC 365

Many thanks

Best regards,

Marco

    Thanks for you hints, Ben

I have tested that if I don't setup stockeepting unit, only input max order qty of iterm master, it's not work in planning worksheet. and if I setup stockkeeping unit, the production order is splitted by max order qty.

It seems stockkeeping unit master is a must for using order multiple if I have multiple location.

    Best regards,

    Marco

Absolutely, as long as you are using a Reordering Policy other than Order, on the Planning tab of the Item/SKU is a section for Order Modifiers.  Set the Maximum Order Quantity to 5.  The system will then limit its suggestions to a max of 5 per row (i.e. Production Order in this case).  Be sure to check your Stockkeeping Unit for whatever Location you are expecting the suggestions.

If your policy was set to Order, I would suggest using Lot-for-Lot instead.  Similar in nature but with more flexibility.

One other thing, be sure the "Respect Planning Parameters" field is checked when running the plan in the Planning Worksheet.  If the order was in the past it would be treated as an emergency order and might not honor the parameters you have set.
