Hello Everyone,

I am making a permission set for Approver only. My things are working well. But now my client is saying when approver open the purchase invoice for approving, they should not have that 'open record' button (in the ribbon) enabled as this will give more details for them. (please refer to the image 'approver image 1')

I tried to disabled that 'open record' button but then the 'download' button (on the righthand side fact box disappeared, client wants approver to 'download' the purchase invoice.)

is there any way i can greyed out the 'open record' button and client still can view/download the purchase invoice from the fact box on the right hand side?

I am attaching my effective permissions from my APPROVER permission set so you have an idea what i have included in the set?

Kindly help.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

You cannot disable Open Record with permissions without also killing the Download attachment feature. They rely on the same read permissions.

    If the client wants:

    No “Open Record” button

    Still able to download attachments

Then the only solution is a page extension that hides the “Open Record” action only for approvers, without removing permissions.

    Hi
If I understand correctly, you've tried extending the page and modifying the visible property of the page action?

    Hello,

To keep the Download option in the factbox while removing the Open Record button for approvers, you should avoid restricting permissions because that removes the page context entirely.

Instead, use an AL page extension to hide the “Open Record” action (set Visible = false) while keeping read-only access to the Purchase Invoice page and related tables in the permission set.

This ensures approvers can still view and download attachments without accessing full record details.

    Hi,

You cannot disable the Open Record action without affecting other actions because both are controlled by the same page-level permissions. Business Central does not provide granular control over individual ribbon actions through permission sets. You can try creating a page extension for the Purchase Invoice page, override the visibility of the Open Record action based on the user’s permission set or role and keep the FactBox actions unchanged.

There is no standard way to do this only through permission sets.

    Thanks
    Rishabh
