Download and upload Excel template gives error

In my Dynamics 365 I need to migrate an Excel template from one environment to another. Unfortunately do not have the original Excel template.

On DEV - Adv Settings - Template - Select Excel template - Maximize - Download . I downloaded the template and looks OK. However, after go to higher environment in Adv Settings - Template , it fails with the following error. How is it possible that an Excel template that works on one site, when trying to upload on another site it fails (without any change)

I tried upload file as is. then tested with "enable edit". then R.click on the file - Properties - Unblock

Nothing worked. the failure is the same. I really tested on multiple environements and same behaviour, so is no environment issue.  Am I doing something wrong.

Did anyone experienced a similar scenario on D365.

I very much appreciate your help.

thank you,

Hi Pradeep Rai , firstly, the error that I have is with Excel template not Word Template as I mentioned in the post. Firstly, I tried directly in Dynamics and showed the error as per my original post. I also tried XRMToolbox (using Document Template Manager - since only this supports Excel, the Template Mover is only for Word). XRMToolbox - Document Template Manager failed with similar error. Thirdly the link you provided refer to "Document Template Export" which I do not find as available tool now in XRMToolbox.

But anyways thank you for trying to help.

I would very much appreciate if you have another idea for me to try.

    Many thanks,

    Hi partner,

May be related to file type. After clicking on 'Export to Excel', file with an extension '.xlsx' will be downloaded. Open this file and save it as .csv format in the system.

Hope it helps. How to migrate Templates from one environment to another.

Whether to show supported file types when uploading?

    Hi @drhorg ,

were you able to solve the problem described by you two years ago?
Right now, I experience the same problem even when I try to upload an excel template to the same environment I downloaded it from (without any changes made to it).

    Kind regards
    Cpro
