Dynamics GP - Feedback request - Handling large payroll (5K+ employees)

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 573

Looking for any feedback or commentary on moving from outsourced payroll to Dynamics GP payroll and HR.

5K+ employees
Locations across US
Time entered through bio metric time clock solution integrated with GP payroll (mostly hourly pay codes)

Has anyone had challenges with performance or functionality gaps processing payroll with a similar size or larger company?  Or has this worked great?

Thanks in advance for your time and attention!

Something to be aware of is when tax changes come along you will need to get those tax updates installed.  Depending if they are federal changes or state changes.  Some cities as well have income tax districts as well.  On July 1st a lot of states like to make changes.

Processing payroll with that many transactions shouldn't be a problem, but I would recommend is that you setup Direct Deposit.

We have moved web based 3rd party payroll to GP, and if found anything missing, fill it with customization. Found it working OK, no issues with large number of employees.

    Hi Tanya,

Welcome to the world of Large GP Payroll!

We do weekly payroll process in Dynamics GP2010 (soon to upgrade to GP2015) and we print (outside of GP in an industrial sized printer and stuffer!) each week upwards of 30,000 pay checks and Direct deposit.

We have been running this for the past 8 years and have had no major issues; of course, we have customized some processes to help with such large Payroll and we run the "Build" in batches of between 1500 and 2000 Employees.

Feel free to contact me if you need any additional information,

    thanks much,

    Thomas S

    Tanya -

With locations across the US, you're likely going to want to implement GreenShades, to augment Dynamics GP Payroll. We have numerous payroll clients, and most use GreenShades as well. https://www.greenshades.com/
