How to find source code of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 from CRM website URL

Posted on by 122

Hello Experts,

I want to find the source code of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 from CRM website URL.

Can you please put some light in the darkness as I am not able to find the source code. I have checked folders on server but no luck.

Also I would like to know how to copy the Production environment on pre-production/ Quality environment for CRM version 4.0 only.

Can you all please be so kind and let me know the path forward.

Thanks in advance

Best Regards

Swap

    Hi,

As you know your custom assembly name, I will suggest you to look for these option to get your plugin from CRM db:

    nishantrana.me/.../get-the-plugin-assembly-stored-in-database-in-crm

This should help you to get source code after that you can update and re-register it.

    Thanks

    Hi Swap,

Do you have the source code of the plugin or not?

If you have the source code of the plugin, you can debug it by attached the source file to the W3WP process on the CRM Server machine (if it is a synch plugin), or to the Async Service (if it is an async plugin).

If you don't have the source code of the plugin it becomes a little more complex. You can use a decompiler (such as Telerik Just Decompile - Free) to decompile the plugin source code and then recreate the plugin and deploy it.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi swap,

You can see all your custom dll for plugin and custom workflow using plugin registration tool. If you want to extract the source code of your custom plugin or workflow then download the dll for which the source code you wish to get from the crm solution then use the below link to decode your custom dll . Then you all your business logic changes and update or register as new assembly using plugin registration tool.

    Hi Swap,

You won't be able to get the source code of CRM. This is internal to Microsoft. Why are you looking for the source code anyway?

To create the separate environment Pre-Prod/ Quality, you need to install the CRM 4 Server and then import the database/ organization from Production server.

    Hope this helps.
