BOM Cost Shares – Incorrect Capacity Cost Calculation with Setup Time

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with the capacity cost calculation in BOM Cost Shares for an operation with Setup time when using a work center with Unit cost calculation = Time .

I have the following product with a lot size of 1,000 units:

Its production route is as follows, where it can be seen that the lot size for operation 030 is 500 units and it has a setup time of 1 HOUR:

The work center card where operation 030 is performed is as follows, with a direct unit cost set to 37.10 €/HOUR.

Therefore, since the required capacity per unit is 1,000 UNIT / 500 UNIT × (1 HOUR / 1.000 UNIT) = 0.002 HOUR, the capacity cost should be 0.002 HOUR × 37.10 €/HOUR = 0.0742 €, not 0.0371 € as shown in the BOM Cost Shares. I don't understand why the unit cost is 18.55 € instead of 37.10 €.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior? Is this a known limitation or a configuration issue? Any insights or workarounds would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

BOM Cost Shares divides the setup cost equally across the entire production lot but does not always scale it correctly per unit when the lot size differs at the operation level.
The setup time cost is not proportionally distributed when the operation lot size differs from the production order lot size.
BC may use the main routing lot size instead of the operation-specific lot size for cost share calculations.

Raise a support ticket if these impacts costing accuracy significantly
