Drop Shipping items from a KIT or BOM

Dear Community,

We are struggling trying to find a way to drop ship items from inside a BOM or KIT.  We have two situations at the moment, we drop ship at time of order to the customer and drop ship at time of shipment to the customer.  Our marketing group wants the customer to be able to order 1 part and it will include items from our warehouse and that will be drop shipped from a 3rd party.  Has anyone found a way to efficiently do this?  We have quite a few items we cannot hold at our site due to regulations and need them to ship directly from the vendor to the customer.

Thanks,
Seth

Currently we are getting more into the retail business and we've ran into a couple of snags.  Currently we provide KITS that we have stock of all components in our warehouse.  We are trying to also provide KITS that consist of stuff that we would not stock in our warehouse but shipped from a vendor.  Currently GP does not allow to drop ship kits what would be the better alternative?  Example would be our company website has KIT A availble to purchase.  KIT A consist of Line Item 1, Line Item 2, and Line Item 3.  These would all come from different vendors.  What is the best way to go about this?

Did you ever find a solution to this?  We are having the same struggle.

    Hi,

Hopefully, there's a better answer, but what I've done is created the kit with only the items we have in inventory and then put the drop-ship items in the 'suggested items' window. When the drop-ship items are selected from suggested items, they are added as a separate line on the invoice. You can enter the price as zero if the price associated with the kit includes the drop-ship items. You can create a dialog that will come to screen reminding the user to open the Suggested Items window or you can have it automatically open based on the item number entered. It seems to be working with a little training for those entering Sales Documents. You'll need to use Modifier with VBA to accomplish this.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
