Add A Check Digit to Item Lookup Codes

Hello,

I am working with a customer who has a very old database that was started before check digits were standard. They have continued to create new items under the same format, but are now updating harware and software.

Is it possible to add a check digit to UPC-A, EAN, and CODE 128A Item Lookup Codes?

Its a fairly complex calculation and also depends on the barcode type. Your best bet would be to find a website like this: https://eancheck.com/ or a program that will do it for you. Here is another site with an excel module add-in. https://code.adonline.id.au/easily-generate-code-128-barcodes-in-excel/

Hi Tom,

Thank you for posting your question about Check Digits; and thank you Mark for providing some things to check.

If additional item lookup codes, with check digits, are being created, I would recommend adding them as an Alias on the Item Properties form.

Just a note that Mainstream support for Microsoft Dynamics RMS 2.0 ended on July 10, 2016; and extended support ends on 7/13/2021:

This is less than 9 months from now; and you can continue using RMS after this date but technical support will not be available.

I would recommend checking with your partner in regard to what they may recommend as a replacement system after the extended support end date.
