After installing KB3124275 Security update for Windows 7 (aka Cumulative security update for IE11) we are unable to select a "Company" when logged into the WorkPlace module.  Solution-uninstall update KB3124275 from the Windows 7 client.

    Hi Patches,

Are your talking about Paramount's procurement system ?  you should get in touch with the ISV to see if they are aware of the issue.. It had happened in the past that a security fix update in IE had a disastrous impact on Business Portal's requisition system, because it was using ActiveX plugins that stopped working properly after the update.

Beat, I was in the heart of that problem with BP with a client that was totally reliant on 'just trusting that all patches are good' since then they have deployed a complete Patch Test environment for all their servers.

    Talk soon.

    Yes Bill,

I faced the same issue... the problem in our environment is simply that IT doesn't has the time nor the capacity to test all the security patches (OS & Apps) they push down the road to the Win7 clients.. so sometimes it happens that all of a sudden some users start calling in for an issue you've no clue why all of a sudden it stopped working, until you start analyzing the update logs ...

Hi, After installing KB3124275. .png images disappeared, xml (using XSD) dropdown list is not selecting the value. The format of the page has been changed. I'm working on Windows 7 sp1, .Net framework 3.5 environment, is there any solution to fix this?

    Hi,

Have you tried un-installing the KB security update ? Other than that I can't think of another way to fix the problem..

    Hi Beat,

Thanks for response. Yes, I have uninstalled the patch, but, still .png images, and dropdownlist's are not responding. I'm using IE11. Does IE11 support .Net framework 3.5 c# code? To support IE11 does we need to install any supporting patches? Please help me on this.

Sudheer, you may have no choice but to follow Beat's recommendation an un-install the KB.

It is hard to believe that a patch for W7 is still going to cause issues with a system that has been running there for years, and should be well known to Microsoft.  Unfortunately we we learned in the case that we discussed above the only solution offered and that is after about 100 technical hours was to un-install and recreate the BP system as it was prior to the KB installation.

Sorry.  But it is always a great practice to create a test environment when you have mission critical software running on 'older' platforms and test the results on that machine prior to running the update / patch or fix on the production system.

Sudheer, is your problem in IE11 or in Dynamics ?  Just wondering.

    Sudheer,

Bill is right about testing patches in a protected environment before deploying it... sometimes they can't even be rolled back and you'll spend dozens of hours to rebuild a system..

As a test I'd try the following : check the 'compatibility view' settings in the IE (on / off); check if you can install .NET 4.51 that would eventually superseed 3.5 and fix the issue.
