For document versioning in Dynamics 365 (CRM), you will have to the integration with SharePoint and store the documents in SharePoint.

Thanks a lot for the response Linn

My question is how will it work if I upload a document with same name as an existing document but updated data in it

Like it should be in the form of version

    Is it possible

    Kindly advise

If you upload the same document with the same name (and extension), the system will save the new version of the document (e.g. version 2.0 > 3.0 as in the screenshot below)

You can see the version history in the SharePoint (not directly in D365 though) by clicking on the "Open Location" button at the subgrid toolbar and view/restore the old version if the user wants to.

Version column is not available out of the box and you will need to add the create a new text field in the Sharepoint Document entity with the Display name "Version" and add it to the Document Associated Grid view. Check out my blog post for more details.

For the error message "List item could not be updated because duplicate values were found for one or more field(s)", can you open up the SharePoint location to see what is duplicating in the actual SharePoint folder?
