Can you use GL account numbers to filter columns in Account Schedules?

I would like to create a report that contains various dimension values as rows, and columns that are filtered by various GL codes.

Is this possible using Account Schedules with out of the box functionality?  Currently, I do not see a "totaling" field available in the column layout.  Strangely, I can use totaling fields in the column layout for dimension codes, but not GL accounts.

Am I missing something or is filtering by GL account just not possible in the column layout?

Thanks!

I have the same question (0)

Report which you want to create it's not possible out of the box. Also you cannot filter GL account in column layout.

Totaling is used for subledgers summation.

Will you try Analysis view. here you able to view the reports, also you can add analysis view on Account schedule.

Yes, but you don't have to manually enter, you assign the GL Group Dimension to the GL Account Card and it will default.  I don't think I would make it a copy of the chart of accounts but rather the groups that you want to see in the columns.

Hi, unfortunately, I don't think the standard function can be done, as you know, column layout is often used with dates.

The following method may not fully meet your needs, but you can try it out with just a little simple processing in Excel.

    Thanks again for the input!

As far as a dimension for GL group, I'm not sure what that entails.  Do you mean creating a dimension for GL codes (basically a repeat of the COA and entering the dimension value within each transaction)?

I will check out some other reporting tools.  Any you can recommend that have more functionality similar to management reporter?

The GL Balance by Dimension screen allows you to see dimensions as the lines and GL accounts as the columns but it still doesn't allow a grouping.

A dimension for GL Group might work for you.

Have you check Appsource for a reporting tool?

    Thanks for that quick reply!

What I need are a few GL accounts as headings, but then filtered by many dimension values as the rows.

There are around 50 dimension values that I need to report on just a few select GL accounts, so using the dimension values as rows makes a more appealing report.

Here's a little table for an illustration:

    (GL Codes) (GL Codes)
Dimensions  GL Account Group GL Account Group
     Value 1   $              4,564.00  $         456,456.00
     Value 2   $          157,485.00  $           56,874.00
     Value 3   $              1,561.00  $                125.00
     Value 4   $              3,156.00  $                956.00
     Value 5   $              8,598.00  $             4,568.00
     Value 6   $                 545.00  $             2,567.00
     Value 7   $              4,564.00  $             9,536.00
     Value 8   $                 456.00  $           28,748.00
     "

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

GL Accounts are not a filter in the column layout.

I have seen users setup a GL Account Dimension and then that dimension can be used in Column Layouts.

It would be helpful to see a snippet of what you are trying to create....might be able to find other ideas.
