Upgrade Path to SaaS

Hi all,

Can some kindly confirm the upgrade path one needs to go through to go from NAV2017 to BC SaaS, please?. We've looked into MS Docs and according to what we found we need to;

1. Nav17  --> 2019 Wave1 Spring version on prem (here we move to AL extensions since this is the last version with the Dev Env. available)
2. 2019 Wave 1 Spring version on prem --> 2020 wave 1 on prem
3. 2020 wave 1 on prem to SaaS via Intelligent Cloud
We do not need to go to 2019 Wave 2, right?
Thank you in advance!

    Hey Marco,

    Thank you very much for the above - the first link is exactly what I was looking for. May I ask what is the process of going from BCv14 (Spring) to BC v16, please?

    I found this documentation but it doesn't go through the actual upgrade process step by step. How would one go about upgrading from BC v14 to BC v16 considering that you can't actually merge objects etc..? In the link it just says a technical upgrade..

    docs.microsoft.com/.../upgrade-overview-v16

    Would you be able to shed some light on this, please? Thank you.

    Edit -- would the path to upgrade to BC v16 be the same as this? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/upgrade/upgrade-unmodified-application

    Thank you!

    Yes, that is indeed considered as a technical upgrade.

    That is indeed one of the options you do have. It depends a little from where you are coming from and where you want to go to (this did initially start from NAV 2017 to SaaS).

    Thanks.

    Thankyou for the above! :) One last question, please - when going from on prem to SaaS, BC version need to be the same version? i.e. If I need to go to SaaS that is version 16.1 , do I need to be on prem 16.1 aswell or can I be on prem 16.0 and go to SaaS 16.1?

    Thank you in advance!
