I've been told that Nav 2015 is not going to be supported for too much longer has limited life is that true?

    yes, that's true. You can find some extra information here:

    Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015 will be out of mainstream support starting 14.01.2020.

    Check out aka.ms/nav2015supportend or the lifecycle page for more information.
