I am exploring Production Control module. and can anyone clarify what will happen if we select Capacity and Batch in formula field in Operations form (Production control>Setup>Routes>Operations>Operation relation)

I have tried several ways and processed Production/Batch Order, but I couldn't get the proper results.

what is the purpose of Batch and Capacity in formula field.

    Hi Mannem!

This field is used for setting up the way how to calculate run time of operation during Master planning and Production scheduling. The value "Batch" is used when you have operation that process few items at the same time. Let's say there is an equipment that process 8 items at the same time, and time of this operation is 2 hours. So, in this case you set Process quantity = 8, Run time = 2, Formula = Batch. If you get the order for 10 items, the scheduled time for operation will be 4 hours (2 hours for first batch of 8 items, 2 hours for second batch with the rest of items). If to set Formula = Standard for this scenario, the calculation will be different, it will be 2.5 hours ( (2/8)*10 ).

And Formula = Capacity is used when run time of operation depends on Resource that performs the operation. For this case you need to set the "Capacity" field in the Resource, it shows the capacity per hour. And attach this Resource to the Route (on tab Resource requirements). During the calculation of run time the quantity of order will be divided by that capacity value in the Resource. For example, Capacity in the Resource = 4, order quantity = 18, scheduled time of operation will be 4.5 hours.

There is a field "Factor" in the Route that also could be used in calculation when you pick Formula = Capacity. But it's not mandatory.

    Hope it helps.

    Regards,

    Hanna
