Install GP 2010 on Windows 10

We have a new Windows 10 PC that will not launch GP Utilities.  The error is that there is a problem ascertaining the version.   This is from the DUINSTALL log:

So as it turns out - the issue was that the DB_Upgrade table was not being updated for the company files, only Dynamics, by the updates and the patches.  MS Support needed to update this table manually.  Once that was done, the server tables updated and the client and server were the same version.

Just to put in an appearance on this matter - I have to agree with both Beat and Richard, it is a service pack matter. If you run the SP installation on both machines and then run GP Utilities on the workstation as ADMINISTRATOR of the workstation ( or domain ) can you see it doing any update on the local machine.  When you install the service pack, as Richard commented, you should see it deposit a number of CHUNK files into the root of the Dynamics folder on the workstation.

But I would point out that the SERVER is behind in the in version numbers

    SERVER - 1102320

    CLIENT  - 1102390

Might suggest that the SP for the server is where you have to look at, rather than the workstation.

Test this by logging onto the system from a different workstation - one that is working and again as Beat noted, write down the version on that workstation.

    Hope this helps.

Also make sure you have full admin rights on the server and the client computers to insure the all chunk files are included. Are you creating an installation package and using that package to run the installation?

Make sure you're not trying to load a module on the client side that doesn't exist on your server side.. compare the DYNAMICS.SET launch file on both side..

What is the error message you get now, since you applied the same level of service pack to the client & server ?

So I applied MicrosoftDynamicsGP11-KB3089868-ENU.msp   to both the client and the server.  The server did run though database upgrades, but I am still getting this error.

    Hi Ethan,

Again, you'll have to apply the exact same packages to the server and the client.. Your server is on 11.0.2320 whereas your client is now on 11.0.2390 according the error message..

Please check from my previous replies the exact KB article for each minor release.

PS: Here's a link to the MS blog post about the GP2013 Upgrade options on Customer Source... you'll find all the listed service packs & hot fixes (this includes previous versions like GP 10 & 2010):

I applied the latest KB to both the client and the server.   The Server updated when ran Utilities.  However; while this cleared the original error, but now get a second error, when attempt to login to company get this error " A product installed on your computer is on a different version than the database version.  You will not be able to use the application until this issue is resolved.   Here is what is in the GP_LoginErrors.log

Product Name: Microsoft Dynamics GP     Database Version: 1102320     Client Version: 1102390

RE: Install GP 2010 on Windows 10

    Hi Ethan,

The answer relies in the error message.. The client version you're trying to install is not equal the version that is running off the GP10 server.. Looks like you applied a service pack on your local Win10 GP client, that was not applied on the server side..

Fire up GP client from your server or your reference workstation where you know it works and write down the exact version number (i.e. 11.0.2320)..

Check the various GP2010 build releases here :

    victoriayudin.com/.../dynamics-gp-version-numbers-and-service-packs

Your client is running 11.0.2248 (which is SP4), but your server is on 11.0.2320, which If I recall correctly is a year-end or mid-year tax update.

Make sure you are running GP 2010 Utilities as Administrator so that all chunk files are being included. If all else fails try copying a complete GP 2010 program folder from a working computer to this one.
