Adding Field Level Security

Is it possible to add Field Level Security to a field after it has been created? I can return to a field I have created and add Field Level Security at a later point, but I cannot add Field Level Security to a field I did not create. Will the creator of these fields be able to add Field Level Security or is there another reason I can’t do this.

This is regarding an On Premise installation of CRM 2011.

Thank you for your help.

you will need to get the creator of the managed solution to give you a copy that has the managed solution properties to allow what your looking for.

theres nothing you can do, it needs to be done on an unmanaged solution.

Yes, these fields are part of a managed solution.

    Hi,

as stated, you can add field security to a custom field at a later point.

however, if its part of a managed solution, and the solution creator has set the solution properties to prevent the modification of fields, then this option will be unavailable.

To confirm my answer, could you tell me if the field you are trying to change belongs to a managed solution?
