Cannot modify or delete misformed report

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

I have a report that I added to My Reports that I cannot edit or delete. Attempting to either modiy or delete in My Reports List results in the following error message, but no other action seems to be possible:Unhandled script exception:

Unhandled script exception:
Object has no reference.

EXCEPTION_CLASS_SCRIPT_BAD_PARAM
SCRIPT_CMD_DEREF_TABLE

How do I root this thing out?

Are you the only user experiencing the error with this report?  I would have someone else try running the report to see if it's isolated to your workstation or not.  Do you know if you have a local reports dictionary or is it shared?

There are no other users really. This is a new installation that has not gone live yet. There is basically no data in the test company version that was created. Logged in as sa, I was just trying to add a report to My Reports and must have slipped some key strokes. I named the report demo, and I think I based it on a Chart of Accounts listing. In My Reports List it shows up as Name: Unknown 0/0/1, Option: demo, Series: Unknown #0, Category: [blank], My Report Name: -demo. Checking the box to the left and clicking "Remove From" brings up that error message. As does Modify. Every time I open GP the error pops up as it attempts to load My Reports. Same thing with My Reports List. I can't do anything with it.  There is a shared folder on the GP server with a REPORTS.DIC file. I don't find one on my local machine. Is that what you are referring to? Presumably it would be a bad idea to send this 15 MB file to the trash bin?

Never mind, I fixed it myself. See

    community.dynamics.com/.../85982.aspx

Use SQL Server Management Studio to identify the offending record in the offended table and delete. The Add Reports link also comes back.
