Balance Sheet Clean Up-Inventory

We currently break our business up between two divisions (701,702) Originally we coded everything in the system to 701 and slowly started to allocate items into 702. I have cleaned up every Balance Sheet category other than inventory. I cannot figure out how to correctly break out what belongs in 701 and what belongs in 702. i have pulled the inventory valuation and i have pulled it by division and blanks but when i pull separate reports for each division plus blanks i cannot get it to add up to what pulls on the inventory valuation. My question is, what is my best option making sure I pull everything in inventory and separating it out between the divisions.
I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

To accurately split inventory between divisions, the best approach is to use Item Ledger Entries filtered for open quantities, as these drive the Inventory Valuation report. Include the division code (701, 702, or blank) and sum the Cost Amount (Actual) by division.

For blanks, allocate based on location, item category, or historical usage. This method ensures your totals reconcile with the valuation report and gives a clear breakdown.

Going forward, enforce division tracking via mandatory fields or dimensions for all inventory transactions.

    Hello,

Use the Item Dimensions – Detail (7150) report to list inventory by division dimension (701, 702).
Run Adjust Cost – Item Entries and Post Inventory Cost to G/L first for accuracy.
Reclassify blank dimensions through an Item Journal to fix missing values.

    Regards,
