Hi,

I am doing data migration from online to online of D365 using kingswaysoft, Been able to migrate all major entities with activities such as Notes/emails/phone calls etc. But I could not find Post entity for migration and the export to excel option is also not present.

Is it possible at all to migrate Posts (manual or auto posts) from one instance to another? Any suggestions will be helpful, thanks in advance.

Thanks

Aura

RE: Posts - How to export or migrate in D365

I have the problem if I want to update the documentrequest entity from my source to the destination the error always comes up:

Error: [SSIS.Pipeline] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PROCESSINPUTFAILED. The ProcessInput method on component “Dynamics CRM Destination” (162) failed with error code 0xC02090F9 while processing input “Input” (180). The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running. There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure.

[Dynamics CRM Destination [162]] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: “System.Exception: An input for statecode field is required when statuscode is mapped. (SSIS Integration Toolkit for Microsoft Dynamics 365, v11.0.0.7160 – DtsDebugHost, v14.0.3002.145)”.

This happens with the following fields:

    -statuscode(Status Reason Data Type)

If I do not map these fields then it works. But we need those fields … How can you solve this?

I hope someone can help me on the Internet, I do not really think what and have been looking for hours ..

    Thanks

RE: Posts - How to export or migrate in D365

    Hi,

Thanks again for your message, it seems closing in on the solution but still not there yet.

CreatedBy is okay now, as i can now being able to migrate manual posts from old system. But the createdOn and ModifiedOn fields are getting latest timestamp instead of original timestamp. In the migration mapping, i don't see to override CreatedOn field for Posts? Is it by design?

Also please share some sample or some guides to use derived column component on the text field? I can see this component can only read from one source and same for Lookup component, so do i need to use both of them for deriving a new column with replaced text values?

    Appreciate your effort, many thanks.

    Regards

    Aura

    Hi Aura,

The error message indicates that the specific systemuser doesn’t exist in your target CRM. With that being said, you may want to check the following fields:

    • createdby: make sure you are passing a system user that exists in your target CRM. Also, it looks like you are specifying createdby as the input column to perform Text Lookup. If your intention is to perform a Text Lookup based on the system user’s fullname, you should use createbyname as the input column and choose the Use Primary Field (All) option in the Text Lookup Editor. For more details on how to work with the Text Lookup feaure, please visit our Help Manual – Working with Text Lookup.
    • text: yes, the text field does contain IDs, which means you may need to use the Derived Column component to replace the old IDs before passing values to the CRM Destination component. You can try to read from the post entity using the CRM Source component, which would give you some ideas of how it looks like.

Please let us know if you have any further trouble.

    Thank you,

    KingswaySoft

    Hi KingswaySoft,

Thank you for your reply but I was able to see the POST entity in packages once I changed the insert method from UPSERT to CREATE. Which seems logical as we can't update a post but can only create it while migration.

But still I have no luck in migrating the posts data from old instance, throws me error - CRM service call returned an error: CRM service call returned an error: systemuser With Id = 205a2f80-1206-e611-80df-5065f38b8261 Does Not Exist(Error Code: -2147220969, Detail Message: systemuser With Id = 205a2f80-1206-e611-80df-5065f38b8261 Does Not Exist)

Please see above migration mapping of columns, seems the text column contains ID as reference which are not getting matched in destination column.

Is there a way to transform the text column to replace the old IDs with new user IDs and then migrate? Or are we missing anything else here?

    Any help is really appreciated.

    Regards

    Aura

    Hi Aura,

The post entity is available for migration using our solution. The reason you are not able to select it is likely a privilege issue with your connection user account, you will need to make sure the CRM user you are using has the right privileges in CRM for all the entities you need to migrate.

Please let us know if you have any further trouble.

    Thank you,

    KingswaySoft

    Hi,

Thanks but above article suggests about creating posts through SDK, nothing about migration I think.

    Hello,

The Posts entity's logical name is 'post', it's available via the SDK, the OrganizationService and the WebApi, I see no reason for it not to be available in the KingswaySoft product for SSIS.

In Advanced Find you can indeed not export the Posts entity, it's a specialized entity type as far as the user interface is concerned.
