BOM's with two systems, one in Europe, one in USA

Our company uses GP in both Europe and USA. The two systems do not talk to each other, so when we create a BOM in USA, that BOM must be manually copied into the GP in Europe. So, as a global company, we are doing double the work to make the same component at each location. The raw materials have the same part numbers, just the unit of measures are different. Is there a third party system (or possibly within GP), that will take a BOM from one GP and copy it into the other GP?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

There is a BOM copy utility, but it only works within the same company.

I developed a method when integrating AS400 BOM data that used SQL to create a macro that entered the BOM(s) into Dynamics GP.

If you built a similar script, after entering the BOM in the US, you run the script to build a macro.  You would email the macro file and execute it in Europe to enter it in the Europe side.  Since the BOM is entered through the "front end" (User Interface), any problems with logic will be trapped.  If you build your SQL correctly, you can even handle modal dialog boxes.

Tim's suggestion is a good one, and I imagine many folks have done similar work with the BOM Copy Utility native to GP, especially when implementing GP. In cases where companies are bringing new BOMs into the system on a regular basis, we typically recommend WilloWare's BOM Import:

Are you taking about inventory BOM? or Manufacturing BOM?

If you know all the appropriate SQL tables for BOM creation, then you can write a trigger to insert the new BOM from one company to another through SQL.

For inventory BOM you can use the below tables.

BM00101 – Bill of Materials Header

BM00111 – Bill of Materials Component

Manufacturing BOM, please have a look on the below link.

    Hope this helps!!!

Thankyou for your responses. I will get with our IT department to see if they can write the script. I am looking at copying the Item Maintenance and the MFG BOM's. Thanks for all of your help. Will let you know what works for us.
