Hi,

Our CRM Dynamics systems is on Microsoft Online System.

It is CRM 365.

How do I connect to the SQL Database of the Online CRM?

Hi RCP,

Actually you cannot directly connect to the CRM online database and parse it's records.

You need to work with some intermediate programs like SSIS or Scribe, to download and/ push and update the records from your online instance into a local DB.

For reporting you cannot access the SQL server editor, however you can do reports using fetch XML. Additionally since you are using power BI, you can design your queries there.

I tried to connect using Power BI and it worked.

I can see the data, though I can't modify.

Hi RCP,

This is a tool used for SSIS usage.

You need to identify first what you really need to do, update with processes;export/import data; etc so as to be able to help you better.

To connect your SQL Database with Online CRM you can use different SSIS or Cloud-Based No-coding solutions.

I prefer cloud-based services `cause they usually don't require coding knowledge and manual installations. I am personally using Skyvia - a powerful tool with flexible scheduling and broad mapping features and with intuitive design

Skyvia is a good option when you need to connect cloud with on-premise data sources and keep data updated on a regular basis. I like its friendly interface and mapping options. We used Skyvia to sync Dynamics CRM with MySQL database, but I think it will also work well with SQL Server. Read here.
