if you want to add a new data item you have to create a new report. you can't add the new field on the data item on the standard reports.

the layout change can be done using the custom report layouts.
to do that create a new entry in the custom report layout list, add the word layout option to copy the standard report layout, edit the layout as you like.
you can use the existing fields from the report dataitems.

although you could add a new field to table sales header and page sales order, it's not possible to add the new field to the existing report dataitem in the standard report, means the new field will be never available in the (custom) report layout.
report extensions are said to be in the long term pipeline, but at the moment, they are not available...

If so, just go into the Report, customize it, and add the field where it needs to go. For custom report types, it's slightly more work. Simply go into Setup->Create->Report Type, click the Selected Fields button and add the field.

I actually wanted to add a new field in a standard report, so i first made new report object and copied the code of the standard one and added the new field in the code, And then i added this new field in the copy of a standard layout and published it. But the changes are not getting reflected when i run the report.

best way is to export the standard report. then import it with a new objectid and name.

    for details follow simplanova.com/.../

your way to do is maybe also ok. did you run the report directly or by clicking the according action in the page. maybe you missed to change the report selection.

    Hi,

Report Extensions are not yet supported in BC. But as a work around you can do as below

Use BC V14 onprem version which supports C/SIDE

Customize the report using C/SIDE development environment

Export the report as a TXT file

Then convert it to AL using TXT2AL

Please refer below nice article by Stevan Renders

    thinkaboutit.be/.../

Also refer below link about substituting reports

    docs.microsoft.com/.../devenv-substituting-reports

    Cheers!
