Assembly Process Limitations

Hi:
 
In Business Central, the Assembly as opposed to Production doesn't offer the ability to "see" where the component(s) are in the manufacturing process.
 
Production has Work Centers, Assembly does not.  Is there a way to overcome this sort of limitation?  Would the use of either Variant Codes or business fill in the gap, especially when it comes to tracking items by where they are in the manufacturing process?

    No, assembly orders do not support work centers.

    What you can do as a work around is to use resources instead. This won't work the same as a work center for posting output and tracking time but at a basic level you can create generic resources for a group of employees or machinery and post time on assembly order completion.
     
    Assembly orders also do not have the concept of WIP so you won't be able to see where they are in the manufacturing process if you are using multiple resources as a placeholder for work centers.
