Hi. I am new to GP (version 8 here) and have dropped into supporting it without any history or resource at my disposal. I am barely scraping by with the requests. I have a request from a user which I am having a lot of difficulty understanding. Any help would be very greatly appreciated. The first request was sent by a manager:
"Jennifer needs access to A/R in Great Plains for Tom, Jeff, Harry & Joe."
then a followup request was sent by the user herself:
"Mark I am set up for my customers in Great Plains but I can’t get into Tom, Jeff's, Harry’s or Joe’s customers,"
So. I have no clue where to look for this. I keep exepecting to find an NTFS type ACL where I just give Jennifer permissions for the 4 guys customers but I don't see anything remotely resembling this. I don't even think I understand the request fully and have nowhere else to turn. Please help. TIA!
Mark

Hi Mark
I would use Advanced Security and its By Menu view to control your access forms based on the navigation. To get more information on Advanced Security, look at the following FAQ KB article: https://mbs.microsoft.com/knowledgebase/KBDisplay.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;894705 For data or row level filtering you would need a customisation. Have a look at my blog post on the the topic: http://blogs.msdn.com/developingfordynamicsgp/archive/2008/08/13/row-level-filtering-proof-of-concept.aspx David Musgrave [MSFT] Escalation Engineer - Microsoft Dynamics GP Microsoft Dynamics Support - Asia Pacific Microsoft Dynamics (formerly Microsoft Business Solutions) http://www.microsoft.com/Dynamics mailto:David.Musgrave@online.microsoft.com http://blogs.msdn.com/DevelopingForDynamicsGP Any views contained within are my personal views and not necessarily Microsoft policy.
