Hey Guys,

I am trying to print a custom report but getting this error. I am getting the same error for standard report too like sales invoice etc. But this error is being generated only in one environment and not in the other environment. Kindly tell me why I am facing this issue.

Thanks,
I have the same question (0)

In that one environment where its complaining this, is it complaining for all the Reports or just for a few?
It could be a data issue as well though.

    Hey RockwithNac,

We are facing this issue for all the reports.

Also, I tried to run with the admin user it worked fine.

Moreover, if it is related to permissions most of them were already provided but if there are any specific permission that is needed please let me know so i can try.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

Since the reports run successfully for the admin user but fail for others, the issue is very likely due to insufficient permissions for the affected users. Even if many permissions have already been granted, users still need specific permissions for report processing.

Essential permissions typically include read access to the tables and data, execute permissions on the code units called by the reports, and access to system tables related to report management. It’s recommended to review the permission sets assigned to the affected users and ensure they have a comprehensive report-related permission set, such as the built-in D365 REPORT RUN or equivalent custom sets, along with read and execute rights on all objects used by the reports.

To diagnose, you could temporarily assign a broader permission set like SUPER to verify that the problem is indeed permission-related, and then gradually narrow permissions down to identify any missing rights. Comparing the admin user’s permissions with those of the affected users is an effective way to pinpoint the gaps causing this issue.

Hope this will help you to resolve it!

    Regards,

Try using the following method to record all the permissions required to open this report

The issue likely stems from environment-specific settings. Check printer setup, report layout configuration, user permissions, and service tier settings.

    Hi,

    1. Generate permission sets in your extension for this report object and publish extension
    2. Assign your user with generated permission sets and refresh

    Now it should work

    Hi MUK-Usman,

Here are common causes and quick fixes:

    Report Layout Issues:
    • Check if the correct layout (RDLC or Word) is selected
    • Try switching layouts or revert to the built-in one
    User Permissions:
    • Ensure the user has basic permissions and access to relevant tables
    Report Processing Timeout:
    • Try filtering data to reduce the dataset
    • See if the issue persists with fewer records
    Browser/Client Issues:
    • Clear browser cache or try a different browser
    Data Issues:
    • Ensure required fields have values
    • Run the report on test data to confirm

Since this happens in one environment but not another: Compare environments (Business Central version, updates, customizations)

Hope this helps! If you find this useful, feel free to mark my answer as suggested or verified.

    Cheers, Jeffrey
