Can I create pricing discounts based on total order dollars?

I have been asked to find out if we can create pricing for a particular class of customer that would discount the unit price based on the total order value.  For instance, if based on the customers assigned price level, they order several different items totalling $3,000, can we discount their per unit price by say 2%?  The total order amounts would potentially be tiered in that there would be a discount at $3,000 then maybe one at $6,000, etc.

Are there any modules or third party add-ons that might help us accomplish this?

Standard GP functionality will not handle this scenario - not even Extended Pricing.  You might take a look at Trinity's Aggregate Pricing tool.  If you're using CRM to enter orders, ExperLogix can handle complex pricing scenarios via their pricing rules engine.

    Hope this helps,
