Posted on by 18,265

Hello,

I heard that if customer downgrade GP Users license Microsoft won't allow to upgrade Dynamics GP for next 36 months? Is it true? Can anyone put more light on this?

Thanks much

    Sandip,

Here's a link to the actual licensing document for GP 2016 on partner source (works only if you have access to it) : mbs.microsoft.com/.../MicrosoftDynamicsGPLicensingGuide.pdf

Unfortunately not much about 'removing' licenses.. It howerver provides a good overview of the various options, like starter pack & additional modules.

Yes, this was true back in the day. If you did downgrade you were not allowed to upgrade for three years. I would contact sales operations to see if that is still true. My guess is that is it would be true only if you were still on the older versions of GP. (e.g. the non-perpetual versions)

    Hello Beat,

Much appreciate for your quick reply. I agreed with you. Customer want to save money and when they want they can buy more licenses.

Let see what other people says or experience.

    Thanks much

    Hi Sandip,

That's akward... never heard about that.. I know for the fact that if you reduce the number of license to pay less annual maintenance fees, Microsoft won't credit you for those "retired" licenses.. Would need to lookup on Partner Source if there is a more specific document related to this..
