What is the difference between transaction entry and parables entry?

I was reading Victoria's suggestion on setting up Credit cards and paying bills with them. I noticed she used transaction apposed to Payable batch entry. What is the difference and will it work the same in either section?

Thanks in advance for your time.

When entering payables, what is the difference between using the transaction entry or Payables batch entry?

Payables batches are a collection of payables transactions. So you enter payables transactions into payables batches. This allows you to group the transactions and print edit lists of the batches to review the transactions within each batch.

Why would you use this vs the transactions entry? Less transactions? Is the transactions posted just like the Payables batches?

That is entirely up to you. Personally I prefer to almost never to perform transactional posting. There is no way to print an edit list first before posting. Some companies have people who enter transactions and then other people who review edit lists and then post. This allows for separation of duties.
