Tracking Email Template Usage

We would like to track email template usage in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011.  Specifically we would like to identify emails that have used a particular email template over a period of time, and to follow up on those emails using a second email template.  

Has anyone been able to successfully customize CRM 2011 to do this? 

Would it be possible to capture the Email Template ID when the email template is selected, and then store the Email Template ID in the Email entity?

    I just came across this thread, and I know I'm 7 years too late for Wendell and nearly 2 years too late for Josep, but I think you could query Email records via the Template Id field on that entity.  You can't get to this field via the D365/CRM UI, i.e. you can't build an Advanced Find, view or Report Wizard report to filter or output this field, but you could use an SSRS report to do it.  The SSRS report could either use SQL or FetchXML depending on whether your D365/CRM instance is online or on-premise.  Alternatively you could use the XRMToolBox's FetchXML Builder plugin.
