Field changes not saving after being modified on a specific set of contact records.

The issue i am facing is that a specific set of contact records are not updating the below fields. I am able to successfully modify other fields on the contact record other than the below screenshot. The issue arose or was noticed when i started to automatically modify these fields based on activities using Power Automate. This has been working correctly as it does change the field value for other records each week that are in the list expect for the persistent set of customer records that do not get modified.

I am trying to change "Allow" to "Do not allow" but after i save and close the specific set of records it sets itself back to "Allow".

These are the problematic fields, these are custom fields i believe and were set up by the ticketing company who set up our dynamics environment. The flow itself is not causing any issues as it will works fine updating

    Hi,

    Thank you for your query.

When you open these records, do you see the fields are not updated?

    Hi Ricky,

Sorry but your description is a bit difficult to understand.

I’d like to confirm some questions.

So do you want to update the names of the contacts or not? Would you please attach the screenshot of your flow and the view to describe the issue more clearly? Is the preference a custom field in Contact entity?

    Best Regards,

    Nya

    Hi Wahaj,

When i go into the record make the modification to the contact preference, from "Allow" to "Do not Allow" then save it will change as expected. As soon as i go to to Save and close out of the record it will then change it back to "Allow". This happens with any field to do with the contact preferences.

I am able to modify the First Name, Email close then reopen with out issue.

    Regards

    Ricky

    Hi Nya,

Sorry, first time posting! I am able to successfully change the names of the affected records. The issue i am having is to do with the below.

"When i go into the record make the modification to the contact preference, from "Allow" to "Do not Allow" then save it will change as expected. As soon as i go to to Save and close out of the record it will then change it back to "Allow". This happens with any field to do with the contact preferences."

This also only affecting specific set of records. I am able to successfully modify other records without issue.

I believe the fields in question are Custom fields created by our ticketing provider when the set up the original integration with Dynamics.

    Regards

    Ricky

    Hi,

Seems like you have a Business Rule or Process (workflow/flow) that updates the flag back.

    Try following:

    • Update the record, note the Modified On and Modified by data.
    • Save and Close after a while and re-open the record.
    • Re-look at the Modified On and Modified By to see when and who updated this again.

Furthermore, look for Business Rules for this entity and List of Activated Workflows (Advanced Settings -> Process > Activated Processes, filter by Entity).

    HI Wahaj,

Great help, we didn't have the Modified fields displayed on the custom contact form so i added them and was able to deduce the offeding process that had been set up!

    Kind Regards

    Ricky
