Self Service users and Navigation Pane Options

I'm implementing Employee Self Service in GP2015 R2.  I setup a full user, set security including unmarking the navigation pane options and then changed the user type to self service.  I tested the user in the web client and the user cannot see the area pages that I hid in the navigation pane options.

I setup additional users and copied the security and the home page and area pages options to the new users, but the new users can still see the area pages that I originally hid.

I tested this in GP2016 and it works, however apparently it doesn't work in GP2015 R2.  Does anybody have any suggestions for hiding the area pages?  I know I can do it in SQL however, going forward, the client will need to do it when they setup new self service users.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    HI Tina,

How did you setup your GP 2015R2 environment ? was this a brand new setup or an upgrade from a previous GP version ?

There were several security roles & tasks missed in the upgrade process from past GP versions (2010) when moving to 2013 and / or 2015..

Check this blog post from Microsoft.. there are links at the bottom in the comment sections to get the scripts to create the missing roles & tasks :
