Hi Everyone,
I have a client where GP takes too long to launch even if GP client is installed directly on the server.Once you enter the user password its taking too long (like 30 minutes) to launch. Once GP opens the processing of transaction is fine.
What could be the cause of this issue between when one puts the password and when GP loads?
I welcome every suggestion as I do my other testing.

I've never seen a client taking an hour to sign in. Gosh, I'd go crazy. I've seen 'minutes' delays because of home page things. In the past in was Outlook. Lately, it's been too many SmartList reminders. Seems like there was a problem with the menu master rebuilding and then rebuilding the menu over and over again. I truncated that table in the past and it cured the problem. I haven't run into it lately though. I'll have to keep this thread on my watch list to see what the resolution is. I understand we have a resolution list on this forum that is much higher than the other accounting system forums.

One added point to watch is the Connect or Online Services
If you are having speed issues, I find that disabling that window on the home page speeds up alot of systems.
Also check to make sure you don't have SQL logging turned on in the Dex.ini. SQL logs will bog a system down in such a manner. This would affect all users.
This seems like a user issue, if you are fine with any other user like the sa. Then this must be related to the user settings on the home page, such as reports, favorite smartlists ...etc
I had a similar case with on my the clients where the user needed more than one hour to sign in after entering their password, troubleshooting showed there was several TB reports from various modules which is loading a huge amount of data from several years.

Romryan, What is your GP version? Is this happening suddenly? Was there any latest patch installed for server or GP?

Hope this helps.
Please try to copy the GP folder from any users machine where GP working fast and paste it to this new client machine and check again.
I think, some addins or any other customizations are running at the time of GP loading.
